After School Activities Teacher's Manual

The Too Good for Drugs & Violence After-School Activities program has eight interwoven components including: Goal Setting, Decision Making, Managing Emotions, Bonding and Relationships, Communication, Conflict Resolution, Drug Awareness and Community Involvement. These components are presented in positive, age-appropriate activities using puppets, songs, games, role-plays, cooperative learning and other experiential teaching techniques. In addition:


  • More than 60 research-based fun activities are presented in a three-ring binder making them easy to use and enjoyable to implement.
  • A parent/caregiver component, "Home Workout: Exercises for Parents and Kids," takes pro-social skills and healthy attitudes into the home for reinforcement within the family.
  • A "Looking for More?" section after each component is available with suggestions for infusion, recommended reading, videotapes and additional activities for reinforcing important concepts and skills.
  • A pre- and post-test is included.
