Training

We combine evidence-based prevention strategies and proven best practices to give you the skills, knowledge base, and confidence to deliver Too Good effectively.

Our professional trainers have extensive real-world classroom experience, and they bring that experience to our training sessions so that you will get the most out of your implementation.

Curriculum Training is available in two session formats, Custom On-site and Open Enrollment:

On-Site Training Sessions

  • Curriculum Training

We will work with you to design a Curriculum Training program tailored to your implementation needs. Sessions can accommodate groups of 10 to 30 participants. Participants can take the programs right to the classroom or after-school setting following their training.

Daily Curriculum Training sessions at the Elementary, Middle, and High School Level are on offer for these programs:

  • Too Good for Drugs K-12 
  • TGFV-A Peaceable Place / TGFV-Social Perspectives K-12
  • Seeds of Nutrition Grade 6
  • Too Good for Drugs & Violence After School Activities

An On-Site Curriculum Training Session is $2,000 per day plus travel expenses for the trainer.

Open Enrollment Training workshops are a cost effective option for those who plan to train only a few people. These training workshops feature 1-3 days of hands-on curriculum training in a collaborative classroom environment. Attend one or all of the sessions. It’s up to you and your implementation needs. Training sessions provide a great opportunity to network and share best practices with other professionals.

Daily Curriculum Training sessions at the Elementary, Middle, and High School Level are on offer for these programs:

Curriculum Training

Competency is essential for any instructor delivering an evidence-based prevention program like Too Good. The fidelity model for Too Good for Drugs and Too Good-for Violence – Social Perspectives includes completion of a Curriculum Training session as part of its built-in quality assurance mechanism.

To implement the Too Good programs with confidence, results, and fidelity to the implementation model, participation in a Too Good Curriculum Training is your first step.

In these training sessions, you will:

  •   Explore the extensive research and rationale behind Too Good.
  •   Apply evidence-based best practices and discuss their effectiveness.
  •   Learn strategies for building resiliency.
  •   Learn how to teach essential life skills and prevention strategies.
  •   Gain valuable hands-on experience delivering the Too Good program activities.
  •   Explore the sequential development of skills and concepts through each grade level.

We offer Curriculum Training  sessions for each of the Too Good programs. We can train as few or as many of the programs as your implementation requires. We will work with you to plan your implementation and training timeline.

Implementation Planning Workshop

Implementing an evidence based program like Too Good requires organization, planning, and commitment from all stakeholders within the community, the implementation sites, and students.  As part of the Mendez Foundation's Implementation Readiness system, the Implementation Training program provides the tools to maximize student outcomes and achieve a high-quality implementation of Too Good. 

Whether you are required to monitor fidelity of implementation by a funder or to meet local or organization based commitments, we will guide you through each phase of implementation. This one-day comprehensive session will give you the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare your school, district, or community to deliver the Too Good programs with fidelity and results.

The Planning Workshop will cover:

  • 5 Stages of Implementation
  • Core Components of the Program Delivery Model
  • Building Implementation Teams
  • Building Capacity - Buy-In: Strategies and Orientation
  • Managing Capacity Constraints
  • Evaluation and Monitoring
  • Sustainability and Scaling

To attend the Implementation Workshop, participants and the implementing organization must meet these prerequisites:

  • Completed Pre-training Survey
  • Completed Community Needs Assessment
  • Secured funding to support the implementation including that for staff, program materials, and program delivery and, if applicable, for monitoring and evaluation.
  • Completion of a Too Good Curriculum Training session conducted by a Mendez Foundation Trainer. Attendance at a curriculum training conducted by a Too Good Certified Trainer does not satisfy this requirement.

Open Enrollment Training Calendar and Registration

Training of Trainers Workshop

Maximize your training investment. This two-day comprehensive session will give you the knowledge and skills necessary to train other professionals in your school, district, or community who intend to deliver the Too Good programs. Too Good Program Trainers are only certified to train staff in their own agency or school district.  

  • Learn the essentials of administering the Too Good programs and supporting the program implementation in your school district or agency.
  • Explore best practices in prevention education.
  • Explore different personality styles and how to manage them within the training environment.
  • Learn presentation techniques to maximize your training effectiveness.
  • Learn how to organize and administer a Too Good Curriculum Training.
  • Network and share ideas with other Prevention Specialists.

To attend a Training of Trainers session, participants must meet these prerequisites:

  • Complete a Curriculum Training session conducted by a Mendez Foundation Trainer. Attendance at a curriculum training conducted by a Too Good Certified Trainer does not satisfy this requirement.
  • Experience in classroom delivery of a minimum of one grade level of Too Good for Drugs, Too Good for Violence or one complete program implementation of Too Good for Drugs & Violence High School or Too Good for Drugs & Violence After-School Activities.
  • Upon completion of a TOT session, you will be certified to train in your organization or district in the Too Good programming in which you have received curriculum training and completed program implementation. TOT Certifications are valid for two years.
  • Too Good Program Trainers must complete re-certification training to maintain certification.
